About the Event

Mission Opera Company will stage the popular comedy Cosi fan tutte (WA Mozart) as its inaugural production. Founded by Dr. Joshua R. Wentz, Professor of Music at Mission College, and supported by an experienced business and production team, Mission Opera will serve the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys.

Mission Opera Company's business plan is to provide high-quality entertainment to our Valley Communities, while offering educational and performance opportunities to musicians, said Dr. Wentz. Staging Mozarts comedy, Cosi fan tutte as our first opera sets the tone for more audience-pleasing productions to come.

Cosi fan tutte, sung in Italian (with English supertitles), will be presented as a fully-staged production with orchestra from May 26 through June 2, 2019 at two venues: Santa Clarita United Methodist Church, located at 26640 Bouquet Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91350, on May 26th ONLY and at Los Angeles Mission College, located at 13356 Eldridge Ave, Sylmar, CA 91342, on May 31st, June 1st, and June 2nd.

About Cosi fan tutte (The School for Lovers)

Cosi fan tutte is an Italian opera in two acts, composed at the end of the 18th century also known as the Age of Reason. Mozart and his librettist Da Ponte used the theme of fiancee swapping to convey that matters of the heart come from human vulnerability, not via supernatural or spiritual devices. The opera was first staged in Vienna on January 26, 1790.
