An operetta in three acts set in present day Hollywood

Synopsis

This festive setting takes place in Beverly Hills in 2018. Gabriel Eisenstein is being jailed for his expensive LA parking tickets and his big mouth, however, he decides to evade jail for a night to go to a lavish party, that teenage millionaire (or is it billionaire?), Mark Orlofsky is throwing. Eisenstein wants to go with his friend Eule (Falke), so he tells his wife, Rosalinda, that he is heading off to jail. Rosalinda gets caught up with her ex-beau, Alfie, but knows that Eisenstein is lying and follows him, under the guise of a rich European Countess to the ball. Adele, their Latina housemaid, also feigns an excuse to be released from work that night so that she can also go to the ball, disguised as an actress. After many mistaken identities, Eisenstein attempts to seduce his own wife without knowing. With many “celebrity” appearances, and much champagne and frivolity, the great farce ends up with a happy ending for all.

ACT I

Adela, the Eisenstein's Beverly Hills maid, is sick of working and yearns to be an actress. After receiving an email from her hipster chola cousin, inviting her to a party, she decides to go. Her boss, Rosalina, has other plans though. They are to celebrate her one year (and two week) anniversary, until her ex-lover Alfie/Allie shows up. Her husband Gaby appears with his lawyer telling his wife that he has a three day jail sentence to start that night. Their friend Eule, AKA "Dr. Bat" talks both of them into coming to a fancy party, without the knowledge of the other. Officer Frank shows up to bring Gaby to jail and he finds a man dining and drinking with Rosalinda. Thinking it must be her husband (this is holy Hollywood after all?!), he takes Alfie/Allie to jail.

ACT II

The party at Mark (Zukerberg) Orlofsky's mansion is mainly orchestrated by "Dr. Bat" as revenge for a mean practical joke that Gaby played on him two years ago. All the characters are there in disguise or with a new persona. Gaby thinks that Rosalinda, his wife, is actually a Bogovanian Countess and tries to woo her with his "bait." She steals it and they all drink and dance the night away, until Gaby and Frank realize it's 6 AM, and they are late to report to jail (one for his sentence and the other to report to work!)

ACT III

This zany comedy comes to a climax when all the characters end up at the Beverly Hills jail. Adela describes her wish to be a movie star, hoping Frank can help her. Gaby finds out another man was arrested in his home and Rosalinda and Alfie/Allie try desperately to get help from the lawyer, Dr. Blind. When all is revealed, they realize that it must have only been the fault of the champagne!
